The Inside Out Project

Heads Up!

Thomasville Center for the Arts’ Public Art team challenged four photographers to capture the faces of the people we often miss when our heads are focused on our gadgets.

Justin Allen, Drew Balfour, Taylor Brandon, and Michael Serine exhibit a powerful display of 80 larger-than-life portraits of the people who are creating our community – when their heads are UP!

This exhibition is an independently organized “Inside Out Project Group Action”, a participatory art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work around the globe.

Everyone is challenged to use black & white photographic portraits to discover, reveal and share the untold stories and images of people around the world. These digitally uploaded images are made into posters and sent back to the project‘s co-creators to exhibit in their own communities.

The INSIDE OUT project is a creation of the artist JR, recipient of the 2011 Ted Prize. You can watch JR’s TED talk at Ted.com.

The Inside Out Project: Heads UP! in Thomasville, Georgia will be documented, archived and made available online at InsideOutProject.net.
