Staff Positions

Thomasville Center for the Arts seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to fill the role of Executive Director. Details about the role and the Center can be found in the Executive Profile.

Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Full-time, Salaried

Thomasville Center for the Arts seeks a dynamic and accomplished Operations Director to oversee finance, administration, technology, human resources, and day-to-day building operations to ensure organizational effectiveness. In addition to general operations management, the Director will develop and implement an operations plan to support key strategic goals, as well as provide for the monitoring and evaluation of the plan. This position will interact with the board of trustees and oversee the work of the independent accounting firm, administrative assistant, and Facilities Director. 

General Responsibilities:

Administration

  • Oversee the management of equipment and vendor contracts, resident program partner contracts, facilities rentals, insurance coverage, federal and state registrations, document retention, board meeting scheduling and reporting, office supply purchases, and equipment purchasing and maintenance. 
  • Manage administrative staff and volunteers to ensure an enjoyable experience for visitors, students, and event patrons. 


Finance

  • Oversee monthly financial reporting for both operating and capital improvement budgets, departmental budgets, financial forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, annual financial audits, and online financial systems. 
  • Support the Executive Director in the management of the organization’s annual program planning and budgeting process,


Human Resources

  • Manage all human resource related functions for current staff and new hires, as well as the annual evaluation process.
  • Conduct staff and trustee onboarding and professional development, as well as organize annual staff retreats.
  • Manage employee benefits.
  • Develop and maintain personnel policies and handbook.  


Technology

  • Manage office technology systems including computers, online payment systems, calendars, project management programs, and digital archives.


Qualifications

  • Preferred college degree in Business Management, Arts Administration, or Museum Studies.
  • Supervisory experience with a minimum of five years in positions of progressive responsibility in business management, not-for-profit management, or museum management.
  • Experience either as an employee or board member of a nonprofit organization a plus. 
  • Demonstrate fluency in accounting processes and provide documented success with organizational initiatives geared toward operational excellence. 
  • Possess capability to create error-free written communications and financial reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an evolving, high-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in use of Apple Mac, Microsoft Office, and online platforms.
  • Strong negotiation, organization, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and operations initiatives.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively relate with senior management, trustees, staff, and volunteers.  


Working Conditions & Physical Tasks

  • Ability to communicate by voice via telephone, read and understand English, and generate written communication manually and using a computer.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods of time, lift and move documents and supplies up to 25 lbs., and bend or reach to file and retrieve documents.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with setting up meetings and conferences.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle is required.
  • Seasonal weekend and evening availability required during Center special events.

Status: Flexible, Part-time

Thomasville Center for the Arts is looking for artists willing to teach their craft to adults. The Center is hosting “date night” workshops using variety of mediums based on artist preference. Maximum class size: 15.

How it works:

Artists select one date night (or nights) to host. Choose from Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,  Friday, or 2nd Saturday evenings, or 2nd Saturday mornings. (Other times can also be arranged!)

  • Sign Artist Instructor agreement listing terms/fees
  • Determine your supplies needed at least 2 weeks prior to event
  • Share the news! Market the event with the Center
  • Share your talents! Teach Workshop. Have fun!

 

Internships

Reports to: Education Director
Status: Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid


Key Responsibilities:

  • Submits events and classes to community calendars
  • Update website, social media, and other content
  • Assist with setting up studio spaces 
  • Assist with youth workshops and classes
  • Assist with tuition documentation


Flexible on hours, but prefer a minimum of 2 days/week. Some applicants may be eligible for class credit from their college or university. Accepted interns will receive perks that include: tickets to events, class and workshop opportunities, and a free membership to THOM Collective.

Reports to: Marketing
Status:Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid


Key Responsibilities:

  • Submits events and classes to community calendars
  • Assists with media monitoring efforts
  • Provides distribution and circulation support for TCA promotional materials, as well as for THOM magazine
  • In the Fall, provides marketing support for Wildlife Arts Festival
  • In the Spring, provides support for Due South
  • Social media and photography assistant
  • Website updates for new classes 
  • Eblast layout and edits
  • Instagram calendar 


Flexible on hours, but prefer a minimum of 2 days/week. Some applicants may be eligible for class credit from their college or university. Accepted interns will receive perks that include: tickets to events, class and workshop opportunities, and a free membership to THOM Collective.

Reports to: Public Art Director
Status: Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid with Perks

Looking for creative, self-motivated artists/visionaries with the desire to work on public art projects over several programs.  This is an amazing learning experience for any person aspiring to work in the art field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System management of documents across various platforms
  • Input in both design and implementation with interaction across TCA programs
  • Collaborating and assisting with the creation of experiences
  • Work with director to create collateral for public art
  • Submit opportunities to local and regional community calendars
  • Social media document preparation
  • Hands-on public art implementation 


Flexible on hours, but prefer a minimum of 2 days/week. Some applicants may be eligible for class credit from their college or university. Accepted interns working 12 hours/week or more will receive perks that include: tickets to events, class and workshop opportunities, and a free membership to THOM Collective. You will learn so much here!

Reports to: Exhibitions
Status: Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly eblasts to members
  • Updating information and platforms for new members
  • Website updates for members
  • Managing artwork for platforms
  • Assist in planning and coordination of THOM Collective challenges and exhibitions
  • Assist in managing THOM Collective artists for Teaching Artist Residency programs
  • Be a part of creative marketing for artists


Flexible on hours, but prefer a minimum of 2 days/week. Some applicants may be eligible for class credit from their college or university. Accepted interns will receive perks that include: tickets to events, class and workshop opportunities, and a free membership to THOM Collective.
