Staff Positions

Reports to: Programs Director
Status: Part-time with Full-time Potential

Calling a creative soul! Thomasville Center for the Arts seeks a full-time, certified Visual Arts Therapist to teach students ranging from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The focus of art therapy for the targeted youth is to assist them with age-appropriate expression of their feelings and challenges, and the development of their social-emotional well-being, self-esteem, coping skills, and perseverance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct group art therapy sessions using various types of visual art that are developmentally appropriate to each age group serviced.
  • Complete reports on a regular basis that convey group and individual progress, observations during sessions, and the effectiveness of scheduled activities.
  • Discuss coping skills and strategies with students to enable them to deal with challenging experiences.
  • Create lesson plans to include the primary focus of each session with descriptions of projects for the course of the program that align with the development of social-emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, coping skills, and perseverance.
  • Create and implement K-5 elementary art curriculum that aligns with Georgia Standards of Excellence.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Art Therapy
  • Minimum 3 years of experience developing and delivering therapeutic arts programming for students in grades K-12.
  • Working knowledge of curriculum design, lesson planning, and current practices in visual therapeutic arts.
  • Strong ability to make sound and swift decisions to support changing or unexpected needs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with capacity to multi-task.
  • Professional, neat appearance with pleasant demeanor.

Reports to: Programs Director
Status: Part-time | Paid

We need a creative soul! Thomasville Center for the Arts seeks a part-time Musical Theater instructor to teach upper elementary students in our after school program. Knowledge of children’s musical theater performance is preferred. This candidate should have experience in working with children and performing arts. Schedule Thursdays from 3:30-5:00PM with paid prep time.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Instruct upper elementary school students in the art of performing and singing on stage.
2. Provide a safe, accepting and loving environment with students from all backgrounds.
3. Be able to teach, plan and prepare a musical performance by March for families and friends to enjoy.

Reports to: Programs Director
Status: Part-time | Paid

We need a creative soul! Thomasville Center for the Arts seeks a part-time Visual Arts instructor to teach elementary students ranging from first grade to sixth grade for our 2023 Fall Break camp. Knowledge of visual arts and art history is preferred. This candidate should have experience in working with children and in the visual arts. Schedule is Monday – Friday from 9:00 – Noon with paid prep time.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Instruct elementary school students in visual arts.

2. Provide a safe, accepting and loving environment with students from all backgrounds.

3. Plan and prepare a thematic unit for the week of camp.

Multiple Positions in musical theater, visual arts and choreography

Reports to: Programs Director
Status: Part-time | Paid

We need a creative soul! Thomasville Center for the Arts seeks a part-time Fine Arts instructor to teach elementary students ranging from rising first graders to rising sixth graders in our summer camp program. Knowledge of visual arts, art history and /or performing arts is preferred. This candidate should have experience in working with children and in fine arts. Schedule is June 20-23 and June 26-29 from 9:00 -3:00PM with paid prep time.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan lessons and instruct elementary school aged students in fine arts.

2. Provide a safe, accepting and loving environment with students from all backgrounds.

3. Be able to teach, plan and prepare an end of semester show at the closure of camp for families and friends to enjoy.

Thomasville Center for the Arts is looking for artists willing to teach their craft to adults. The Center is hosting “date night” workshops using variety of mediums based on artist preference. Maximum class size: 15.

How it works:

Artists select one date night (or nights) to host. Choose from Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,  Friday, or 2nd Saturday evenings, or 2nd Saturday mornings. (Other times can also be arranged!)

Internships

Reports to: Education Director
Status: Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid


Key Responsibilities:

  • Submits events and classes to community calendars
  • Update website, social media, and other content
  • Assist with setting up studio spaces 
  • Assist with youth workshops and classes
  • Assist with tuition documentation


Flexible on hours, but prefer a minimum of 2 days/week. Some applicants may be eligible for class credit from their college or university. Accepted interns will receive perks that include: tickets to events, class and workshop opportunities, and a free membership to THOM Collective.

Reports to: Marketing
Status:Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid


Key Responsibilities:

  • Submits events and classes to community calendars
  • Assists with media monitoring efforts
  • Provides distribution and circulation support for TCA promotional materials, as well as for THOM magazine
  • In the Fall, provides marketing support for Wildlife Arts Festival
  • In the Spring, provides support for Due South
  • Social media and photography assistant
  • Website updates for new classes 
  • Eblast layout and edits
  • Instagram calendar 


Flexible on hours, but prefer a minimum of 2 days/week. Some applicants may be eligible for class credit from their college or university. Accepted interns will receive perks that include: tickets to events, class and workshop opportunities, and a free membership to THOM Collective.

Reports to: Public Art Director
Status: Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid with Perks

Looking for creative, self-motivated artists/visionaries with the desire to work on public art projects over several programs.  This is an amazing learning experience for any person aspiring to work in the art field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System management of documents across various platforms
  • Input in both design and implementation with interaction across TCA programs
  • Collaborating and assisting with the creation of experiences
  • Work with director to create collateral for public art
  • Submit opportunities to local and regional community calendars
  • Social media document preparation
  • Hands-on public art implementation 


Flexible on hours, but prefer a minimum of 2 days/week. Some applicants may be eligible for class credit from their college or university. Accepted interns working 12 hours/week or more will receive perks that include: tickets to events, class and workshop opportunities, and a free membership to THOM Collective. Reports to: Exhibitions
Status: Part-Time | Seasonal | Unpaid


Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly eblasts to members
  • Updating information and platforms for new members
  • Website updates for members
  • Managing artwork for platforms
  • Assist in planning and coordination of THOM Collective challenges and exhibitions
  • Assist in managing THOM Collective artists for Teaching Artist Residency programs
  • Be a part of creative marketing for artists
