We Are The Music Makers | Photography

We are the Music Makers! educates and engages viewers in the cultural history of Southern traditional music. The exhibition features photo and audio documentation of Southern Roots musicians active in the past 20 years, all photographed and recorded by Tim Duffy in his quest to preserve Southern traditional music by partnering with the artists who make it. The multi-media materials highlight questions of how poverty, geography and age have limited the exposure of these artists, causing the widespread idea that the musical traditions they perform have “died out.”

Support We are the Music Makers! and this exhibition by purchasing a story book of these amazing musicians ($30) or a cd highlighting their Southern traditional music ($10) at Studio 209 or contact Darlene at dtaylor@thomasvillearts.org!

Opening Reception from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm during First Friday, April 6th at Studio 209. Stick around after the reception for a performance from the legendary Music Maker Blues Revue at the Thomasville Amphitheater!
