FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY
JOIN US for this new series where we look back at a time when we gathered together as a community during our most memorable FLAUNT public art events.
This fourth in the series, FLAUNT2015: Rock On! brought back larger-than-life murals, but this time with a 70’s twist. The murals paid homage to 70’s rock icons and the competition attracted over thirty regional artists, both youth and adult. David Bowie, KISS, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Tina Turner and more donned the Creative District’s buildings!
FLAUNT2015’s second weekend brought rock and roll to life with a Battle of the Bands! The Adult battlers included Travelin’ Light, David Lee Miller Band, Tuesday Supper Club, Hot Tamale, Below the Dam Band and Bleu Burden. The Youth battlers were Round River Drive, Samarium, and McCall Chapin.
A rock and roll inspired photography exhibition was also on display with seven local photographers competing for awards.
Thomasville Center for the Arts in partnership with Hurst Boiler and Downtown Main Street presented FLAUNT2015, with this month-long rock and roll experience.
