Join us for a fun-filled evening of painting a custom masterpiece of your very own pet!

This is a wonderful opportunity to get expert instruction as you create a piece personal to your life and loved ones. Once you’ve registered, you’ll submit a clear photo (or multiple photos, if you like) of your pet by email and artist-instructor Hillery Allen Barrow will prepare your canvas for when you arrive. Your canvas will have your pet’s sketch penciled on so you can get right to painting! Hillery will walk you through the steps and techniques to bring your furry, feathered, finned, or scaled friend to life in paint.

No experience necessary: Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, you’ll leave with a beautiful piece of art to cherish. Come unwind, socialize, and discover your hidden artistic talent.

What’s included: all art supplies (canvas, paints, and brushes), step-by-step instruction, and a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

BYOB: Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to enjoy while you paint.

IMPORTANT: Email your pet’s photograph(s) to hillery.artist@icloud.com at least 24 hours before class begins to ensure your canvas is prepared.

Join artist-instructor Laura Patrick for an afternoon of painting and community.

Participants will turn a blank canvas into a work of art creating their own 8″ x 10″ or larger painting. No prior painting experience is needed! We will experiment with brushes and color learning to mix acrylics and achieve different line weights and shapes.

Engaging team exercises, script work, and improvisation games, help even experienced young actors develop strong communication, public speaking, and collaboration skills. Our non-competitive environment encourages children to take creative risks and build lasting self-esteem, all building up to a student performance on Thursday, December 17.

For more than 30 years, Bickel has documented the people, culture, and working traditions of Apalachicola, Florida, while also capturing everyday life in Cuba and communities around the world. No Borders brings these stories together, revealing the shared humanity, resilience, and hope that transcend geography and culture.

Join us in the TCFA Theatre for an inspiring artist talk with award-winning photographer and photojournalist Richard Bickel, whose work spanning more than 70 countries is featured in the exhibition No Borders, on view in the Main Gallery August 20–October 30, 2026.

Bickel will share the stories behind his powerful photographs, offering insight into moments of resilience, connection, and everyday life from around the world.

As part of the exhibition, the Center will collect donations for the Center for Cuban Studies (CCS), with a raffle benefiting CCS’s efforts to support basic needs in Cuba.

Award-winning local artist, Tracy Foutz-Hunt will lead you in hands-on experimentation with multiple techniques and colors and show you how to let the medium work for you.

About the Instructor

Tracy Foutz-Hunt has been drawing and painting since childhood. She has always strived to make ordinary, every day objects into vibrant, interesting paintings. She paints in several mediums, but watercolor is her favorite. She appreciates the vibrant colors and bright paintings that are inherently watercolor, and feels that no other medium has the advantage of portability, non toxicity and convenience that medium offers.

Tracy is an award-winning watercolorist who is a signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, a founding member of the American Society of Railway Artists, a former member of the Roanoke (Virginia) League of Artists, and has had her work juried into the Art of Georgia program several times, giving her the privilege of hanging artwork in the Governor’s Office, and by extension in the Appropriations Office in the Capital in Atlanta. Tracy has been a member of the TCA Collective since its inception.

Her artwork is in collections nationwide.

Join Ron Thomson for an intimate and in-depth two-day workshop painting our best friends, dogs! We will study puppies and dogs, and paint from source photos provided or bring your own favorite fur baby photo (cats, goats and pigs are welcome).  This is a great opportunity to learn some ‘serious’ painting skills on a playful and beloved Red Hills subject!

On Day One, you will learn how to streamline the development of form and gesture, and block in with a harmonic palette that explores how light’s warm and cool relationships influence the subject. On Day Two, you will learn how to bring your subjects to life with the implication of surface textures of fur, skin, eyes, and natural elements, like pines cones and ground cover.

We’ll begin each day with demonstration and Q&A followed by individual guidance as you’re working on your paintings. This workshop aims to balance freedom for individual expression and support to strengthen your confidence and skill.

Best for intermediate and experienced level painters. We’ll be working in oils and acrylics. Supply list will be provided to registered participants.
